Description

The Summer Workshop in Leadership and Vocation is an interesting and challenging program intended to help students reflect on how to nurture a deeper commitment to a sense of vocation in their lives. The summer workshop will provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your gifts and talents, your leadership potential, and how God may be calling you to serve. Together we will explore how you are called to learn, lead, and serve. Students in each session will also participate in a service project in the greater Dayton area.

Desired Outcomes

It is our hope that students will come away with the following outcomes:

• Students should become more aware of their gifts, talents, and passions, and thereby more aware of the reasons why they are coming to UD. Students will have a greater understanding of who they are.
• Students should recognize that by being an active participant in the community at the University of Dayton, they will continue on the process of developing into adults and leading a mature Christian life (which includes social, academic, and faith components), and developing a sense of call.
• Students should have an understanding that they are continuing on a journey; one in which God is their companion. Students will have a greater understanding of what God might be calling them to be.
• Students will be encouraged to think critically about the opportunities and challenges they encounter as they make the transition to college and independence.
• Students should recognize their accountability to each other when living in the UD community.
• Students should have a clear sense of the Catholic identity and Marianist heritage of the University of Dayton.
• Students should be enthused about UD and excited to begin the academic year; students should perceive that they have a beneficial head start.
• Students should recognize that UD supports and encourages their growth in Christian faith.
• Students should feel connected to the greater Dayton community through exploration of area neighborhoods and engagement in local service projects.
• Students will explore principles of leadership, Christian leadership, and the ways in which the Gifts of the Holy Spirit help them become better leaders.
• Students will be encouraged to participate in faith-sharing groups by Campus Ministry during the academic year.

The workshop is being offered in three sessions over three weeks in July, 2008, from which you can choose one from the following options:

July 12-17
July 19-24
July 26-31 

How Much Does It Cost? How Can I Register?

The Summer Workshop costs $200 which includes all meals, overnight accommodations for 5 nights, workshop materials and program t-shirt. This program fee of $200 may be paid by check or credit card.  Early registrations receive a $25 discount.
