The Conference on Christianity and Literature is a national organization interested in the relationship of Christianity and literature and dedicated to both scholarly excellence and collegial exchange. It is an allied organization of the Modern Language Association and is active in the annual MLA national convention. The conference holds seven regional conferences annually at rotating sites throughout North America. The University of Dayton is a frequent host of the Mideast Regional conference, which draws participants from Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. - Faith and Fiction, October 2004. The keynote speaker was Ron Hansen of Santa Clara University, author of Mariette in Ecstasy, Atticus, and A Stay Against Confusion: Essays on Faith and Fiction. Dennis Hassell, founding director of Brookstone Performing Arts of Toronto, Canada, was the featured artist.
- Imagining the Futures: Religion, Literature, and the Good Society, October 2001. Author and University of Durham professor Patricia Waugh served as the featured critic. Essayist and memoirist Julia Kasdorf of Pennsylvania State University was the invited poet.
- Identity and Spirituality: The Ethics of the Articulated Self in Literature, October 2000. Highlights included a dialog between Fr. Walter J Ong, SJ and Wayne Booth entitled, “A Conversation on Faith and the Critic.” Pat Mora, author of My Own True Name: New and Selected Poems for Young Adults, Aunt Carmen's Book of Practical Saints and Agua Santa: Holy Water, read her poetry.
- October 1996. Keynote speakers Ralph Wood of Wake Forest University and poet Li Young Lee.
