The UD geology field course is a unique opportunity within the traditional undergraduate geology and environmental geology curriculum, offering majors and other interested students from a variety of disciplines the experience of geology and environmental science in the backdrop of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. During the three-week field course, which is conducted during the summer session, students live at the University of Denver's High Altitude Field Station (elev. 10,700 ft) located on Mt. Evans just west of Denver. Students get involved with inquiry and field-based learning at numerous field locations including Mt. Evans, Red Rocks Park, Dinosaur Ridge, Garden of the Gods, the Continental Divide, and Great Sand Dunes National Park.
