In addition to the graduate assistantships that are offered by all of the departments within the College, there are opportunities for support during the summer for research through the University Research Council as well as unique opportunities for support through individual programs on the campus.
Graduate Student Summer Fellowships for research and creative projects are available through an application process. This opportunity is administered through the University Research Council to provide summer support for the graduate student. The fellowship is intended to assist in the completion of the student's master's thesis or doctoral dissertation research, or research leading to publication.
Graduate students may also apply for support to assist with the cost of travel to a professional conference where the student is delivering a presentation. To encourage this level of research, the department, College of Arts and Sciences, and the graduate school can assist in supporting these excellent professional experiences for graduate students.
Additional opportunities for student support or research can be found within specific centers, units, or programs on the campus. Such opportunities, for example, are afforded by the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) for students in the sciences, by the Raymond L. Fitz Center for Leadership in Community that focuses within the social sciences, and by various individual departments. The Department of Psychology, for instance, administers a Clinical Trainee Program that provides some tuition remission as well as employment at a community mental health facility for selected graduate students enrolled in the clinical psychology M.A. program.
