• Hands-on laboratory experience through ready access to facilities and equipment often found only at larger universities, combined with the kind of individual, one-on-one attention usually found only at smaller colleges.
• Research projects in all significant areas of study in chemistry and biochemistry (organic, inorganic, biochemical, medicinal, analytical and physical).
• The chance to present research findings at local, regional and national meetings of scientific societies.
• Social and professional activities available to students through membership in student organizations, including the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates and Alpha Epsilon Delta, the premedical honor society.
• The Katchman Scholarship, available to entering first-year majors, and a number of other University-wide scholarships for sophomore or junior chemistry or biochemistry majors who are also premedicine students.
• The chance to collaborate with faculty members on a research project to be displayed at the annual Brother Stander Symposium.
