The Department of Communication offers concentrated programs of study in communication management, public relations, electronic media, journalism, communication studies and theatre.
Students who major in communication take a series of foundational courses focusing on communication theory and practice and become knowledgeable about the subject matter from both social scientific and humanistic perspectives.
A Bachelor of Arts in communication prepares students for professional careers in communication fields such as broadcasting, journalism, public relations, communication management and graduate studies in such areas as law, business and communication. Communication majors also have success in fields such as business, education, government, health, international relations, and social and human services.
