holiday in Southern England

Holiday in Southern England has been cancelled for 2008. Please check this page regularly for updates...

Considering a trip to see the sites in England... BUT...

  • Don't want to be a part of a group of 60+ people with only one guide?
  • Don’t want to drive yourself to various venues around the countryside, especially since you would be driving on the "wrong" side of the road?

Why not join a small group of local people, (numbering between 20-30), and see some of the very special places in Southern England with your own driver and bus?  We'll be lead by two veteran travelers, Mark and CarolAnn Cannon, who have visited England more than seven times as well as a local tour manager who will take care of the pesky details, like reservations and transportation, etc.

This tour will be leaving Cincinnati and flying directly to London - we will stay in these four major cities

  • Bath
  • Winchester
  • Canterbury
  • Tunbridge Wells

After seeing what each city has to offer, we will visit nearby attractions, like Caerphilly Castle in Wales, Hampton Court near London, and Dover Castle with its nearby Roman lighthouse.  There are at least four other castles on the agenda - from all periods of English History.

Cathedrals are also a major part of our trip - especially those in Winchester, Canterbury, Salisbury and Wells - in addition to Bath Abbey.

Don't forget the really ancient sites, like the monoliths of Stonehenge and Avebury as well as the many ships, such as Bristol's SS Great Britain and those at the Portsmouth Historic Ships Museum.

Then there are the World War II related sites, like the command-post located in the cliffs overlooking the English Channel, and Chartwell, the home of the Churchills during the war.  Perhaps we can also take a peak at Winston's studio and see some of his paintings.  To finish off this trip, we will spend a leisurely afternoon exploring Beachy Head and the white cliffs of Dover, where we will celebrate the end of our holiday with lunch.
