Travel with the UD Faculty

Educational Travel Programs through Special Programs and Continuing Education

Programs abroad designed for adults have been sponsored by the University of Dayton since 1983 when two faculty members from the Departments of Music and Foreign Languages collaborated to design and host a trip to Vienna.  That program, Encore Vienna, continues today, and has been joined by several other programs over the years to include Beautiful Bavaria, Encore Italy and Experience Spain. To enhance our offerings, UD Special Programs and Continuing Education partnered in 2005 with TraveLearn, an organization that has been planning learning vacations for adults for over 25 years and shares our philosophy for lifelong learning.

Our programs abroad are an extension of the vast learning opportunities the University offers adults through Special Programs and Continuing Education. Learning about foreign cultures is just one of these opportunities, and there is just no substitute for traveling with UD faculty, many of whom have lived and worked abroad and have academic expertise pertinent to the sites. The size of the groups, limited to 20-, provides participants and program hosts opportunity for shared learning experiences. Small groups provide participants ample time to explore their individual interests and to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere.

• Encore Vienna 2008 (May 19 - June 2)
• Holiday in Southern England (Cancelled)
• Beautiful Bavaria 2008 (September 30 - October 14)

UD Campus Recreation Located on Evanston Avenue, the RecPlex provides a pool, weight room, locker room facilities, indoor track, climbing wall and racquetball courts. For more information on amenities, please contat the Welcome Desk at (937) 229-2704. An "early bird" membership from 6:00 am to 9:00 am is available for UDLLI Members, faculty, staff and retirees for $150.  Cost for a regular annual membership is $225.
