University of Dayton's Special Programs and Continuing Education, in partnership with the Department of Music, presents:
Vocal Performance Institute
July 14 - 18 2008
Grades 9 - 12
UD voice faculty and guest artists from the Dayton Opera and Human Race Theatre will lend their expertise for high school students.
Throughout the week students will participate in various workshops and master classes. Participants will also receive private lessons, and will hear faculty and guest artists in recital.
Workshops and other events will be scheduled from approximately 9 am - 9 pm except Friday, which will end at 6:00 p.m. after the culminating student recital (open to families and friends). All participants will receive a final recital CD.

- Vocal Technique and Diction
- Sight-singing Techniques
- Techniques for the Musical Theater Actor
- Movement for the Stage
- Alexander Technique for Singers
- Preparing for Auditions
- Practice Tips
- The Art of Productive Practice
- Vocal improvisation
Cost: $415 Day Campers (Commuters) $567 Overnight Campers
Accommodations are priced per person, based on double occupancy (shared room - two persons per room)
$50 deposit with registration (applied toward total cost). Refundable until June 25, 2008.

Lodging

Resident campers will stay in the recently opened, air-conditioned Marianist Residence Hall on campus. This dormitory is next to the Recreation Center and the Campus Bookstore.
Camp registrations are limited so please register early to secure your reservation.
Cancellation: Requests for refunds must be made in writing. Refund requests received two or more weeks in advance of camp start-date will be refunded in full. After that time, registrations are non-refundable.

- Use of the new campus Recreation Center
- Camp T-Shirt
- CD of final recital

- Overnight Campers: Breakfast, Lunch
- Day Campers: Lunch
* All campers will purchase their own dinners at local (walking distance) restaurants. Dinners will be attended in large groups and accompanied by VPI Staff.

Here the students are having dinner at a local restaurant with several faculty members after a hard days work
The Camp includes the cost of lunch for each student, as well as breakfast for resident campers. Meal arrangements have been made for those staying on campus.
Extra Meals
You can purchase meals in our Food Court located on the ground floor of Kennedy Union.
Hours are:
- Monday - Sunday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Bistro (located at the entrance of the Food Court)
Hours Are:
- Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm
