Each summer, UD hosts people from throughout the United States and sometimes Canada. Elderhostel is an educational program for older adults who want to continue to expand their horizons and to develop new interests and enthusiasms.
Elderhostel participants enjoy inexpensive, short-term academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences. Courses are not for credit. There are no exams, grades or required homework, and no previous knowledge or study is necessary. The only prerequisite is that you, or the person you are accompanying, are 60 years or older.
Elderhostel explores many themes. Each summer, we offer Aviation Heritage, an opportunity to showcase the Miami Valley's flight, past, present and future. This program is always scheduled the week prior to the Dayton Air Show. Many community organizations - the Air Force Museum, Aviation Trail, the International Women's Air and Space Museum, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, UD's Research Institute - contribute to the success of this unique Elderhostel.
Join us for the UD Elderhostel experience next year. Please check this page regularly for program updates. Interested in learning more about the nationwide Elderhostel Program?
