Opportunities

The Criminal Justice Studies Program at the University of Dayton takes pride in its faculty/student relationship. Students can rely on the expertise of faculty and receive much-needed personal attention as well. Students are also offered many opportunities to enrich their classroom learning through a variety of clubs, research experiences, awards and online/electronic experiences. Read more:

  • There are two criminal justice studies student organizations on campus - Omega Phi Delta and the Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma.
  • Scholarships, offered by the CJS program and by outside sources, are available to criminal justice studies majors and can enhance the student’s opportunity to continue their studies.
  • Internships with local agencies and organizations in the criminal justice field can give students an advanced look into the professional world they are seeking to enter upon graduation.
  • A research assistantship from the University's Fellow Fund can prepare students for the real world experiences of criminological research.
  • All full-time majors are eligible to participate in the Volunteer Service Program, a chance to give back to the community while learning valuable "real-life" lessons.
  • A number of online opportunities, such as video resumes, a job site, an internship site, an advising site, and web pages for each major create a wonderful atmosphere for student-to-student and student-to-faculty interaction.
  • Students are encouraged to consider membership in one or more professional organizations to further ensure knowledge of current, regional and national trends in the criminal justice field.
