Your first year is important. Your advisor will serve as a valuable guide.
The first year of College is exciting, but it is also a time of transition and sometimes, anxiety. The College provides each student with an excellent advisor to guide first-year learners through this pivotal time.
In your first year, you will begin your academic Portfolio and will be connected with a wide range of support services and possibilities for service and campus involvement. Career Services will help you begin to assemble the materials that you will need for a resumé. Campus ministry will provide you with service and spiritual opportunities. You will have numerous opportunities to attend lectures, presentations, plays, and concerts on campus and in the Dayton community.
In your first year, you will be introduced to the campus community and to the Catholic and Marianist traditions of the University. You will be encouraged to be an active learner and to develop learning communities. The first year is a foundation for the rest of your undergraduate education and a time for exploring your possibilities. If you begin your University experience undeclared, your advisor will help you identify possibilities for majors and minors that will develop your interests and strengths. If you enter with a declared major, you will be able to begin your course of study while developing a strong base in liberal learning.
