What is Earth Science Week (ESW)?

ESW is a national and international event to help the public gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth sciences and to encourage stewardship of the Earth. ESW promotes the value of Earth science research and its application to our daily lives.

2007 EVENTS

The theme of Earth Science Week 2007 is "The Pulse of Earth Science."

Student Faculty Dinner - Wednesday, October 3rd, 6:00 pm 
Come enjoy an organic meal prepared by the residents of the Eco-house and then discuss with other students and professors, environmental topics that you want to learn more about.

Who: All students are invited.
Where: McGinnis Center
Topic: Oil, Bio-Fuels and Sustainable Options for Our World's Future Industrial Development

Geocache - Thursday, October 4 - 4:00 - 6:00 PM Science Center Atrium
Get a team together and race for a Dayton to Daytona trip. The geochache is a scavenger hunt that takes place all over campus, with a twist that will challenge your knowledge of field techniques and orienteering.

Directions and information will be available on site. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.

Dr. Terry Root will present "Our Fossil-Fuel Addiction: Changing Climate & Changing Wildlife." Dr. Root is a Senior Fellow and University Faculty at the Wood Institute for the Environment, Stanford University

Neighborhood Clean-up and ESW Celebration - Saturday, October 6
Come out and lend a helping hand to improve the student neighborhood. Then return to Art Street for a cookout, art show viewing, cornhole, LIVE BAND and fun.
