The University of Dayton experience is far more than coursework - you will find a number of unique opportunities offered by each department and program. Getting involved with activities, programs and events sponsored by the Department of Music will allow you to apply the knowledge you learn in the classroom, give you the chance to interact with faculty members and other students in your major, build your resume for future endeavors, and overall, enhance your learning experience. Take advantage of what the Department of Music has to offer:

• Students may perform in a broad array of ensembles, including the University Chorale, the Ebony Heritage Singers, the Choral Union, the Celebration Vocal Transit, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Concert Band, the Pride of Dayton Marching Band, the UD Pep Band, in addition to a number of jazz ensembles and combos, and vocal and instrument chamber ensembles.
• There are opportunities to participate in a variety of student organizations that can help majors expand their musical horizons.
• The department offers scholarships and awards based on the student's talent, potential for success in a chosen career, and financial need.
• In collaboration with Campus Ministry, the Department of Music encourages students to apply for the Chaminade Scholar Program. This program seeks to develop in music students both musical talent and leadership skills, so that they may continue to serve their communities as music ministers after graduation.
• The Opera Workshop, held yearly, is a great way for students to apply their classroom learning.
• Students are encouraged to join the annual musical stage production.
• A number of guest artist master classes are available to students.
• Majors receive a great deal of personal attention and advising from faculty members.
