Countless possibilities lie before you.  As you begin to look at specific programs, you should be aware of the breadth of programs offered and that flexibility is built into many of them.  Every academic program in the College is a combination of three components:  the academic major, general education requirements, and electives. 

After completing general education and major requirements, students can choose from a broad array of electives offered from many different areas of study.  The number of electives will vary from program to program with such areas as the Bachelor of Fine Arts programs and the Bachelor of Music programs offering very few elective hours. Bachelor of Arts programs can offer 12 to 20 hours of elective choice. 

Electives permit students to complete minors and develop skills to supplement the major.  For instance, students can work toward a minor in a foreign language, or in a complementary field such as journalism or political science.  In addition, students in the College regularly complete minors in business areas such as marketing or management.  Students also utilize electives to prepare for admissions tests for graduate work in areas such as law, medicine, and business administration. 

You should look at the undergraduate program you are interested in as not just a single major, but as an opportunity to expand your knowledge and build the skills needed for your chosen career path.
